Busy times

After getting all 4 wisdom teeth taken out and resting for the past few days I've decided to jump back onto the design boat! :)
I'm planning to write up a thorough site analysis of 23 King Edward Parade and keep making little conceptual models investigating light.

To do:
-1:100 model of the site and the surrounding houses.
-Highlighting the build-able spaces on the site(approximately 19m x 18m)
-Reference to the rich history and past of Devonport. (mainly shipping)
-looking at the specific limitations and things that the client wanted e.g. Carport for his Lancier Fulvia

Design Brief - Devonport

After all these precedent and case studies we have been given a building to design for a couple in either 23 King Edward Parade, Devonport or in Ponsonby.
My selected site is in Devonport because I'm interested in it's rich past as it is one of New Zealand's oldest suburbs. What also interested me was the idea of designing a building by the seaside. I would like to design for the surrounding environment and I believe this will be a challenging site to build on since it has a 10 Metre High bush behind it!

1st Month of architecture over!

Just had an informal crit about the Magney House which was my case study.
I learnt a lot of design principles Glenn Murcutt uses throughout his buildings.

Time to get started into another sleepless year of University studying architecture!
Asides from the sleepless nights ahead and work overload I'm hoping for a great year.
This blog will document the progress I've accomplished throughout the year and amount of work i have done( or lack of work! :P)
